abstract

objective: microleakage has always been a problem in restorative dentistry. to decrease microleakage, modern bonding systems, different application methods and sandwich technique have been recommended. the purpose of this study was to assess the microleakage in class v cavities restored with open sandwich technique using self-etch and total-etch bonding systems.   methods: in this in vitro study, class v cavities were prepared on the buccal and lingual surfaces of 20 extracted sound human third molars and restored with sandwich technique. fuji ii lc glass ionomer (gi) was applied to the cavity floor. after curing, half the cavities received single bond and the other half, clearfil se bond application and were all restored with z250 composite resin. specimens were immersed in 2% fuchsin solution for 24 hours. after copious water irrigation, specimens were sectioned and evaluated under a stereomicroscope to determine microleakage. data were analyzed using the mann-whitney u test (p<0.05).   results: the microleakage at the gi-composite interface was less than that at the occlusal and gingival margins but this difference was not significant. no significant difference was found in microleakage between the two bonding agents in neither of the two layers. conclusion: the etch & rinse and self-etch systems are similar in terms of microleakage

Comparison of Microleakage of Self-etch and Total-etch Bonding Agents in Primary Molar Class II Composite Restorations

Introduction: This study evaluated microleakage of flowable and conventional composite in primary molar class II restorations using self-etch and total-etch bonding agents. Methods: Class II standard cavities were prepared on proximal surface of 48 primary molars. These cavities were restored using GrandioFlow and Grandio composites and Futurabond DC and Solobo...

Microleakage evaluation of core buildup composite resins with total-etch and self-etch adhesive systems.

AIM Core buildup composite resins with prefabricated posts are commonly used to restore endodontically treated teeth. This study compared the sealing ability of Core Max II and Panavia F2.0 cement with total-etch and self-etch adhesive systems. METHODS AND MATERIALS Sixty recently extracted human second premolar teeth were chosen and their crowns were cut 3 mm above the CEJ. After preparing p...

Shear bond strength of self-etch and total-etch bonding systems at different dentin depths.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the dentin shear bond strength of four adhesive systems (Adper Single Bond 2, Adper Prompt L-Pop, Magic Bond DE and Self Etch Bond) in regards to buccal and lingual surfaces and dentin depth. Forty extracted third molars had roots removed and crowns bisected in the mesiodistal direction. The buccal and lingual surfaces were fixed in a PVC/acrylic resin ...

In Vitro Comparative Evaluation of Microleakage in newly introduced Dyad Flow with Total etch and Self etch adhesives in class V Resin Composite Restorations

AIM – The aim of this study was to evaluate marginal sealing ability of newly introduced Dyad Flow with total etch & self-etch adhesive system at the coronal and apical margins of class V resin composite restorations. MethodsA standard class V cavity (3 mm mesiodistal width, 3 mm occlusogingival height, and 1.5 mm axial depth) was prepared on the buccal surface of freshly extracted sound human ...
